A police officer and surf lifesaver entered the water at Paritutu Beach to pull a teenager from a rip — a close call that could have ended very differently.

A massive shout out to the local Police Officer and Surf Lifesaver who entered the water at Paritutu Beach last night to save a teenager from a rip as they were drifting further out to sea. It was a close call that could have ended very differently.

Great work from everyone involved, including the member of the public who tried to help on their surf board.
