The health effect of microplastics from plastic packaging, kitchenware and personal care products has received significant attention. Not so the absorption of microplastics from plastic oral health care products, such as toothbrushes and dental floss. Recent studies reveal people absorb as many as 300 microplastic particles every time they brush. This presentation by Dr Stuart Bramhall will look at research linking microplastics to inflammation, oxidative stress, cancer and respiratory and cardiovascular disease and non-plastic toothbrush and dental floss alternatives.
