Mayor Max confirmed noise testing may take place at a former Firth industrial site off Clemow Road to see if it could be suitable for a purpose-built skid pad.
The landowner recently offered the industrial property as a potential solution to an ongoing issue with illegal burnouts on public roads, however the idea is already getting pushback from nearby residents concerned about noise and anti-social behaviour.
Addressing these concerns, Brough stated in his weekly livestream on Monday that acoustic testing is the necessary first step.
"What I have encouraged the club to do is reach out to the council team to get a sound test done before anything happens," Brough said.
The mayor stressed that any trial or testing would be strictly controlled to limit community impact.
“Anything that happens there will be just during the daytime," he said. "There will be a sound test carried out if the club, landowner and council can come to some agreement on doing that."
Brough cautioned that a permanent facility is not guaranteed at the Clemow Road location and that setting up a dedicated space will take time.
"There'd be a lot of process we'd have to work through before that came to fruition with that particular site, and nothing happens overnight," he said.
While the club works with the Council and landowner to finalise a testing agreement, the search for alternative locations remains open.
"If anybody out there has got a site that may be suitable, please get in touch with us," Brough said.
