An Eltham-made cheese has conquered the global stage, with Kāpiti Kikorangi Triple Cream Blue taking out the Supreme Champion title at the 2026 International Cheese & Dairy Awards in the United Kingdom.
Securing a massive haul at the event, the South Taranaki factory brought home 15 medals across 10 different cheeses. Staff at the Bridge Street site in Eltham celebrated the achievement online, highlighting the logistics and hard work required to transport their delicate products halfway across the world to compete against top global brands.
In an announcement on social media, the Eltham Cheese team expressed their delight at winning the top honour, stating they were "ecstatic" and credited the victory to the collective effort of the local workforce. "This wouldn't be possible without the whole Bridge Street team."
Initial judging rounds saw an exceptional performance, where 10 separate cheeses combined to win 15 medals. This success allowed the gold-winning varieties to advance to the final stages of the competition to vie for the premier "Best in Show" titles.
As one of the foremost events for global dairy producers, the UK-based competition showcases the finest products from around the world.
