New Plymouth manufacturer Tasman Medical has secured a contract with Health New Zealand to supply clinical trolleys and equipment solutions across the Taranaki and Waitematā regions.

In another example of Taranaki business success, New Plymouth manufacturer Tasman Medical has secured a contract with Health New Zealand to supply clinical trolleys and equipment solutions across the Taranaki and Waitematā regions.

Operating from its manufacturing facility on St Aubyn Street, the company has spent 70 years developing and manufacturing clinical storage and equipment.

What began as a local joinery and engineering firm has grown into a highly specialised manufacturer supplying hospitals, dental practices, and aged-care facilities throughout New Zealand, alongside shipping products to international export markets.

Announced on June 16, the new contract establishes Tasman Medical as a key regional provider of clinical solutions aimed at supporting safe, efficient and effective patient care.

Tasman Medical spokesperson Ian Cooper said that the contract represents an exciting opportunity for Tasman Medical to further strengthen our partnership with Health New Zealand and support clinicians with reliable, fit-for-purpose equipment designed and manufactured here in New Zealand

He added that the company is proud of its team's expertise and looks forward to delivering solutions that contribute positively to clinical efficiency and patient outcomes.

The reliance on a Taranaki-based manufacturer provides several practical benefits to regional healthcare organisations, including more responsive customer support and reduced supply chain risks.

Production oversight within New Zealand also gives the firm the flexibility to adapt equipment designs quickly to changing clinical requirements.

Tasman Medical Director Philippa Emanuel highlighted the company's long-term commitment to the healthcare sector, noting that frontline medical professionals deserve dependable, thoughtfully designed tools.

"Healthcare professionals dedicate themselves every day to caring for New Zealanders, often in demanding and high-pressure environments," Ms Emanuel said. "At Tasman Medical, we believe they deserve equipment that is dependable, thoughtfully designed, and built to support the important work they do."

Emanuel said that the company feels privileged to contribute to the national health system through domestic manufacturing and remains committed to building enduring partnerships with local clinicians and communities.

Production and implementation under the new contract have already commenced, with the manufacturer maintaining its operational standards of quality and responsiveness throughout the life of the agreement.
