Demolition of the Metro Plaza façade has commenced as part of ongoing development in the New Plymouth central business district.

The facade of the former Metro Plaza is coming down as demolition progresses at the Devon Street site in New Plymouth’s CBD.

The work is the first stage of a wider redevelopment involving NPDC, Ngāti Te Whiti and K.D. Holdings. Plans for the site include daylighting the Huatoki Stream, which has been covered there since 1929, and creating a green space, footbridge and commercial connection between Devon and Brougham streets.
