🌸🌼🌺 The search is underway for a fresh face to run the Rainforest Eatery at the popular Pukeiti Gardens.
The previous operators recently decided to end their lease, temporarily pausing food and beverage services at the venue. However, the eatery remains a key part of the visitor experience on the slopes of Taranaki Maunga, and the Taranaki Regional Council are eager to see the doors open again soon.
A statement on the official Pukeiti Facebook page addressing the closure confirmed the venue will return once a suitable replacement is secured. "The previous leaseholder has chosen to end their lease, but this doesn't mean the eatery is gone for good."
Pukeiti draws thousands of locals and tourists year-round to view its extensive rhododendron collection and native bush trails. Having a reliable food and coffee option on-site has become an expectation for visitors making the trip.
"We know how important it is to the Pukeiti experience and we're currently looking for a new operator to take on this great opportunity."
A call has now been put out to the local hospitality sector for expressions of interest. "If you or someone you know might be interested in leasing the space and being part of the Pukeiti experience, we'd love to hear from you."
Pukeiti is one of three premier public gardens in the region, alongside Tupare in New Plymouth and Hollard Gardens in South Taranaki. The eatery space offers a highly unique dining setting, completely surrounded by a vibrant rainforest environment.
